GPS Seminar Series
GPS faculty, researchers, graduate students, and visiting scientists regularly present their research in departmental seminars and seminar courses that are open to all members of the campus community.

- Brown Bag Seminars - The Geophysics Brown Bag seminar is an informal research seminar series. Post-docs and students are particularly encouraged to present ongoing research projects. Unless otherwise noted, seminars are on Wednesdays at noon in the Benioff Conference Room. (Contact: Amir Bagheri)
- Dix Planetary Science Seminars - Topics of interest to the planetary science community are presented on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Robert P. Sharp Lecture Hall (155 Arms). Some seminars are held at alternate locations and times; see the schedule for details. (Contact: Yuyu Phua)
- ESE Seminars - Topics of interest to the environmental science and environmental engineering community are presented on Wednesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Robert P. Sharp Lecture Hall (155 Arms). Refreshments are served at 3:40 p.m. (Contact: Bronagh Glaser)
- Geology Club Seminars - Take place on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the Buwalda Room (151 Arms Laboratory) throughout the academic year. The seminar series is organized and operated by third-year graduate students pursuing degrees in geology, geobiology, and geochemistry. Their goal is to provide, in an informal setting, seminars that cover new work in all aspects of the earth sciences for an audience with a wide range of backgrounds. (Contact: Maria Schmeer)
- GPS Division Seminars - Topics cover the entire range of earth sciences. Seminars are held Monday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Robert P. Sharp Lecture Hall (155 Arms Laboratory). Refreshments are served at 3:45 p.m. (Contact: Leticia Calderon)
- Seismo Lab Seminars - Topics of interest in seismology and geophysics are covered in these seminars, held on Fridays at 4 p.m. in the Benioff Room (254 South Mudd), unless otherwise noted. (Contact: Seismo Seminar Committee)
- Thesis Defense Seminars - A public one-hour oral presentation followed by a closed-door defense of the student's thesis which is attended by the student's PhD examination committee. Seminars take place in 254 South Mudd. (Contact: Julie Lee)
