GPS Seminar Series

GPS faculty, researchers, graduate students, and visiting scientists regularly present their research in departmental seminars and seminar courses that are open to all members of the campus community.

  • GPS Division Seminars - Topics cover the entire range of earth sciences. Seminars are held Monday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Robert P. Sharp Lecture Hall (155 Arms Laboratory). Refreshments are served at 3:45 p.m. (Contact: Leticia Calderon)
  • ESE Seminars - Topics of interest to the environmental science and environmental engineering community are presented on Wednesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Salvatori Room (365 South Mudd). Refreshments are served at 3:40 p.m. (Contact: Bronagh Glaser)
  • Geology Club Seminars - Take place on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the Buwalda Room (151 Arms Laboratory) throughout the academic year. The seminar series is organized and operated by third-year graduate students pursuing degrees in geology, geobiology, and geochemistry. Their goal is to provide, in an informal setting, seminars that cover new work in all aspects of the earth sciences for an audience with a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Dix Planetary Science Seminars - Topics of interest to the planetary science community are presented on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Salvatori Room (365 South Mudd). Some seminars are held at alternate locations and times; see the schedule for details. (Contact: Ulrika Terrones)
  • Seismo Lab Seminars - Topics of interest in seismology and geophysics are covered in these seminars, held on Fridays at 4 p.m. in the Benioff Room (254 South Mudd), unless otherwise noted. (Contact: Donna Mireles)
  • Geophysics Brown-Bag Seminars - The Geophysics Brown-Bag Seminars is an informal series that covers a broad range of topics within the field of geophysics. Graduate students and postdocs are highly encouraged to present their research. Seminars take place in 256 South Mudd on Wednesdays at noon. (Contact: Donna Mireles)
