Comet Hyakutake rising over the dome of the 3-meter telescope at Lick Observatory. We used a 0.05-meter refracting telescope (ok, it was really just a 50mm Cannon camera lens) connected to a cooled CCD camera to take this image. We were all set to take images throughout the night but we broke the camera after just this one picture.

The image was taken by Mike Brown (Caltech), Antonin Bouchez (Arizona), Debra Fischer (UC Santa Cruz) and Jim Burrous (Lick Obs.).
