2.0 micron carbon dioxide and weak 2.544 micron water vapor absorption features used to remove contribution of atmosphere from ISM spectra of the Martian surface (from Erard et al. [1991]). The magnitude of the correction shown in the upper plot [Bibring et al., 1990 suggests large uncertainties in the shape and values of the surface signature.
