About Me
I just began my graduate work at Caltech in 2010, with a focus on geobiology and Earth history. Currently, I am studying the Great Oxidation Event (the atmospheric oxygenation of Earth about 2.4 billion years ago) using cores drilled in South Africa by the Agouron Institute. Biological evolution and innovation have often triggered enormous environmental effects, and by exploring previous ecological transformations we can improve our understanding of their many environmental effects on numerous timescales. I find the co-evolution and co-dependence of the biosphere, atmosphere, and climate fascinating, and I'm excited to be exploring the evolution of life and Earth’s surface environment in the Precambrian world through isotopic studies and biomarker evidence here at Caltech!
