Nuclear reaction notation
The notation used to describe nuclear reactions on this page is simply a more compact way to express the same information as an equation. For example, whereas one might write 18O + α --> n + 21Ne, this reaction can more compactly be written using 18O(α,n)21Ne. This notation is common among nuclear scientists.
