We drove a little ways down the Denali Hwy, and came across this amazing view of three
cirques -- bowls carved into a mountain by glaciers.

And camped that evening off the road. We were graced by this amazing rainbow:

And in the "morning" (this is around 3 a.m.), some fog clung to valley floor:

To get into the 6-million+ acre Denali National Park, you leave your vehicle at the park entrance and take
a bus in. This helps preservation of the park, and is a great way to see wildlife. The drivers are quite
knowledgeable about good animal sites, and on this trip, we saw a moose with a calf, 4 wolves,
2 kit foxes playing, some rock ptarmigan, and 6 grizzlies (3 were cubs). All from the safety of the bus.
Here's a lousy shot of a grizzly mama and her cub, from about 600 feet away:

A beautiful view overlooking the Toklat River:

And, finally, the McKinley Range. Many Alaskans call this tallest peak in the country "Denali",
which means "high one" in Athabascan, rather than call it by the name of a senator/president
who never visited Alaska.

At the end of a 6-hour bus ride, you can get off to hike around Wonder Lake, go fishing, canoe, and camp.

I know what you're thinking. "I've seen this image before, maybe in a dream." No, not in a dream,
in a famous Ansel Adams photo called Mt. McKinley, Wonder Lake. He took a nicer photo.

Great view of McKinley from the McKinley Bar trail:
