Modification of a Zymark Turbovap

When the pressure regulator on our Turbovap broke, we took the opportunity to make some changes. We installed a new pressure regulator from McMaster Carr, which is nearly identical to the part that Zymark sells but about 80% cheaper. Next we replaced all of the soft plastic tubing in the nitrogen-delivery system with solvent-cleaned copper tubing and brass swagelock fittings. A swagelok panel-mount union replaced the plastic quick-connect that was original. The organic blank in our turbovap was already very low, but these easy modifications should prevent any future problems as the plastic tubing gradually degrades with age.
