How to orient the symbols used to make Hot Links in ArcView

  1. After the hot links are established for a theme, activate the legend editor for that theme.

  2. For the Legend Type select Unique Value.

  3. For the Values Field select the name of the field that contains the path to the files that are to be accessed via the hot link (the default is <None>).

  4. Under Symbol double-click on one of the marker symbols.

  5. Choose a symbol, color, and size for the specific symbol then type in the angle that you want the symbol to point (where 0, or 360, is north and the angle increases from 0 in a counter-clockwise direction).

  6. Apply the changes.
