Professor Don Anderson, Crafoord Laureate and Eleanor and John R. McMillan Professor of Geophysics, Emeritus, has written an article on his trip to Kyoto as a representative, not only of the Division, but also of Caltech, to be in attendance when Hiroo Kanamori received the Kyoto Prize.

The 2006 Cruise Expedition

From late September to October 2006, a Caltech GPS research group headed by Victoria Orphan sailed on the R/V Atlantis and used Alvin to study diverse methane-oxidizing Archaea and associated syntrophic relationships using high resolution molecular and isotopic methods off the coast of Oregon. The 2003 GPS Postdoc Field Trip

For their annual field trip, the GPS postdocs went to Baja California, Mexico and the Salton Sea in southern California, on January 31 - February 3rd, 2003. The purpose of this field trip was to give an overview of the boundary between the Pacific and North American plates and the opening of the Gulf of California.
