Research Vessel (R/V) Atlantis
On this page, there are maps of where we will be each day (Where is Atlantis now?) The Atlantis is operated by Wood Hole Oceanographic Institute. Atlantis is the namesake of WHOI’s first research vessel, a 142-foot, steel-hulled, ketch-rigged ship that sailed some 600,000 miles for ocean science from 1931 to 1966, and also the 210-foot Atlantis II, which served ocean science over a million-mile, 8,000-day-at-sea career that extended from 1963 to 1996.
