The following are among the funds established with generous contributions from alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences. Gifts to these funds help ensure that GPS has the resources to attract exceptional faculty, researchers, and students from around the globe, and to equip them to lead innovative research efforts that will transform our society and our world.

We invite you to consider contributing to these endowments, or to designate your annual gift to GPS.

GPS Alumni Endowment Fund
Supports innovative ideas in teaching and research in the GPS division.

Leon T. Silver Graduate Fellowship Endowment Fund
Supports a graduate student working in Geological and Planetary Science and to honor the teaching, mentoring and research of Lee Silver, emeritus professor for resource geology.

Planetary Astronomy Fund
Supports projects in Planetary Astronomy, a discipline that unites researchers in planetary science with astronomy.

Barclay Kamb Graduate Fellowship Endowment Fund
Established to support graduate students in the Geological and Planetary Sciences Division and to memorialize Barclay Kamb, a former professor and chair of the Division.

Hiroo Kanamori Seismology Research Fund
Established to support research in Geophysics while honoring the achievements of Hiroo Kanamori, emeritus professor of geophysics and one of the world's leading authorities on earthquakes.

Robert P. Sharp Ventures in Earth Sciences Endowment Fund
Supports student field trips that allow participants to study various geological features first-hand, including Project Pahoehoe, an annual field trip to the island of Hawaii for graduating seniors and PhD students. The fund memorializes Bob Sharp, former professor and chair of the Division.

Donations may be made directly to the division by sending a check payable to "Caltech," with a notation earmarking the gift for the above fund of your choice. All checks should be mailed to:
