GPS Seminar Series

GPS faculty, researchers, graduate students, and visiting scientists regularly present their research in departmental seminars and seminar courses that are open to all members of the campus community.

GPS Division Seminars

Topics cover the entire range of earth sciences. Seminars are held Monday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Robert P. Sharp Lecture Hall (155 Arms Laboratory).   Refreshments are served at 3:45 p.m.

ESE Seminars

Topics of interest to the environmental science and environmental engineering community are presented on Wednesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Salvatori Room (365 South Mudd). Refreshments are served at 3:40 p.m.

Geobiology Seminar Series

Topics of interest in geobiology are presented on Wednesday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the Buwalda Room (151 Arms Laboratory).

Geology Club Seminars

Geology Club seminars take place on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the Buwalda Room (151 Arms Laboratory) throughout the academic year. The seminar series is organized and operated by third-year graduate students pursuing degrees in geology and geochemistry. Their goal is to provide, in an informal setting, seminars that cover new work in all aspects of the earth sciences for an audience with a wide range of backgrounds.

Planetary Science Seminars

Topics of interest to the planetary science community are presented on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. in the Salvatori Room (365 South Mudd). Some seminars are held at alternate locations and times; see the schedule for details.

Seismo Lab Seminars

Topics of interest in seismology and geophysics are covered in these seminars, held on Fridays at 4 p.m. in the Benioff Room (254 South Mudd), unless otherwise noted.

Tectonics Observatory Brown-Bag Meetings

An informal, interdisciplinary, weekly discussion group covering topics relevant to the Tectonics Observatory. Graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to present their ongoing research ideas. Meetings take place Tuesdays at noon in the Buwalda Room (151 Arms Laboratory).

Mineral Physics Luncheon Seminar Series

The Mineral Physics Luncheon (MPL) is an informal brown-bag seminar organized to share research results and understanding about earth and planetary materials. The MPL series is normally held on Thursdays at noon in the Gutenberg Library (256 South Mudd).

Geophysics Brown-Bag Seminars

The Geophysics Brown-Bag Seminars is an informal series that covers a broad range of topics within the field of geophysics. Graduate students and postdocs are highly encouraged to present their research. Seminars take place in 256 South Mudd on Wednesdays at noon.
