12 units (3-5-4); first term.

Prerequisite: Ge 11ab. This course is an introduction to Earth's landscapes and strata. We explore the nature of fluvial, lacustrine, glacial, volcanic, tectonic, and various marine landforms and sediments. Their character and sequencing are the strata that enable us to understand geologic history and processes. The course will describe modern, active systems and the interpretation of paleo-environments and paleo-climates of the past million years. The nature and genesis of sequence architecture of sedimentary basins will also be introduced. Field trips and laboratory exercises.
