Ge 111b Suggested Personal Equipment 2009

Note: There will be no opportunity to visit a laundromat, so please plan accordingly. The camp site has 2 shower stalls with solar showers. You can probably do hand laundry and hang it outside if you want.


tent/rainfly with suitable stakes
tarp or ground cloth
sleeping bag
foam pad
flashlight (batteries) or head lamp
day pack
water bottles (IMPORTANT!!) - you need 2-3 liters capacity.  You can also use a camelback or other water reservoir system.

field boots
field socks
wide-brimmed sun hat that will stay on even in the wind
light colored and breathable clothes (including ...)
field pants/shorts
T-shirts
warm clothes for cool nights
rain protection (just in case)
towel(s), wash cloth
swimsuit
bandannas or kerchief
in-camp comfortable footwear

plastic sandals for use in the shower (cheap flip-flops work fine)

sunscreen (high pf #)
sunglasses
chapstick
personal toiletries such as soap and shampoo; first aid items (click here for basic first aid info)
toilet paper (there will be pit toilets with toilet paper in camp, but in the field...)
bug repellent

pencils
notebook/clipboard

work gloves (leather or canvas) for equipment deployments, digging holes for equipment, etc.

watch or alarm clock
snakebite kit
baby wipes or other no-water clean-up supplies
Instant hand sanitizer
"Cool Tie" or similar neck band, if you have one
