McMillan Professor of Geophysics, Emeritus, has written an article on his trip to Kyoto as a representative, not only of the Division, but also of Caltech, to be in attendance when Hiroo Kanamori received the Kyoto Prize.&lt;/div&gt;

Our lab took a combined rafting and sampling trip through the Canyon last summer to sample the Tapeats for this purpose.       <description>Beginning in 1997, the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences at Caltech has organized an annual field expedition to areas of particular geologic interest. The 1997 trip, led by Caltech's Professor Jason Saleeby, was to southeast Alaska and the Duke Island ultramafic complex.
